BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS!

November was our big book giveaway!  For the fourth consecutive year we delivered dictionary / gazetteers to grade 3 students in our local Elementary schools and for the first time we joined up with Sackville Library to give away reading books to young people attending The Holly Jolly party before the Tree Lighting at Acadia Park. We are able to access reasonably priced, good quality books from The Dictionary Project and First Books Canada, and each book we give away has a plate label showing it was a gift from us...…

The label also has the Rotary 4 way test, which we find is very similar to the school mottos we see when we deliver our books.

Much of our fundraising goes to this project, and this along with many volunteer hours applying labels, delivering to schools and handing books out at  the reading book table  at Sackville Library makes it a whole club effort.

We hope to be able to continue our Literacy projects, so are always in need of support of our fundraising events such as out Annual Auction – also in November!
