Happy New Year! It was a cold but clear start to our 2016 Rotary efforts. A good turnout to the meeting meant that we made progress in new and existing projects. What's on for the next few months in 2016...

It was a cold but clear start to our 2016 Rotary efforts. A good turnout to the meeting meant that we made progress in new and existing projects.

We thanked Walmart, Bedford Commons for their help and support of the Rotary Wish Tree, we will make arrangements to thank them in person and present a recognition certificate. The Wish Tree makes a real difference to family members in need at Christmas who fall outside the age ranges that the Salvation Army support via Christmas Daddies.

We are planning to support Sackville Snow days again this year with a family friendly event – We are still in discussions with event organizers but will release full details here and on Facebook once plans are finalized.

The Sackville Business Association thanked us for supporting the tree lighting for the holiday period.

We will be celebrating our birthday this year with cake, and a presentation by Adopt-a Library. This along with distributing our gift of over 3000 dictionaries to 3rd graders and ESOL students in our area will mean we can make a real impact on Rotary literacy goals.

Our INTERACT club continues to gain momentum at Charles P Allen High School and we are looking forward to participating in exciting projects with them.

Floods, Earthquakes and other humanitarian disasters continue to impact people in developing and developed countries and we are proud to be supporting Shelterbox in 2016. (http://www.shelterboxcanada.org/) We hope to hear first hand from them soon, about their work. And once our Shelterbox is purchased we will be able to track it and see where it is sent, and which family or community it helps.

We will be running our auction again (4 Nov 2016) and also hosting our Lobster Boil, but next week we hope to start gathering ideas for a new event that will help us continue to support communities near and far.
