Changing of the Guard!

The unsung heroes of Rotary are our significant others, who support our passion, come to events, and get involved as the army without the pin. Over and above the call of duty Gail Zwaagstra shared her 37th wedding anniversary with a group from the club who descended on her home (invited!) for a potluck supper to celebrate the end of her husband Ron's tenure as Club President. The Rotary Club of Sackville and Area would not be where it is today without two years of outstanding leadership from Ron, and the support of Gail. Here he is looking pensive and reflective! We are famous for having fun, and our potluck after hours meetings are legendary. As ever there was a fabulous array of food and Ron took charge as grill master. Most of the burgers arrived safely onto plates with only a couple of escapees! Another evening filled with laughter, memories and the marking of the handover from Ron to Linda. Here he is handing over the President's pin; Linda immediately thanked him by creating a new job for him to do! Our teamwork with Rotary in HRM, our increased fundraising and community work, our support of Hospice, scholarships, school programs and the promotion of Lycra as a way to wear the Rotary logo would not have been possible without Ron. We are grateful for his tireless effort and support, and Gail's support of him.
